Artist Spotlight

Gemma Navarrete
Gemma Navarrete is a Western Sydney based musician who creates pop/ RnB infused music with concise, poetic lyrics and catchy, intricate melodies that intend to tell detailed stories of the clunky transition from adolescent to adult. She quickly decided that music was her calling the moment she finished singing Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb” at a small Karaoke bar in Queensland, launching the beginning her musical journey at ten years old. To begin, she had singing lessons and competed in local talent quests which led to multiple setbacks, leaving the young songstress confused and distraught, as any ten-year-old who faced rejection would. Continuing her musical journey as a teen, she was reminded of her love for writing lyrics and likeable melodies at a young age and reconnected with her favorite pastime as a child. Older and wiser, Gemma has begun taking necessary steps towards ensuring creative growth and the improvement of her skills in order to pursue a career in the music industry. In February (2020), Gemma participated in the first APRA Song Generations writing camp and is currently studying a Bachelor of Music with a Major in Contemporary Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she intends to collaborate and immerse herself further into her music. The singers first single “Older” will premier on the 19th of February, a song that has been modified and perfected since May of 2018. Beginning to hone her craft, the songstress has released her debut single ‘Older’ which is to be followed by a number of single’s which will depict the same themes of love, hope and self exploration.

Victoria Altern
I am a Musician, Singer, Songwriter and Producer who recently graduated with a Bachelors in Audio (Sound Engineering). I lived in Melbourne for the duration of my studies and gained a valuable amount of experience with different artists and musical scenarios. I am currently working as a Sound Designer in Cape Town by day and a producer by night. I hope to collaborate with as many South African artists as possible and use the skills I have gained to help the music scene in Cape Town however I can. I am also actively trying to open more doors for women in the audio industry and this has become a key purpose in my musical journey. I released a self-produced, debut album in March this year titled "Lullaby for the Human Condition" into which I poured my soul and found solace during a very unprecedented time. I make Soul/R&B/Jazz-inspired tunes but have many influences. You can find my music on Spotify, Apple Music and most other streaming platforms. There is always new music on the horizon, so keep up to date with my new releases and gigs in the upcoming months!
